City Year Kansas City (CYKC) is seeking an Impact Director (ID), who is responsible for the overall management of day-to-day programmatic operations, and achievement of service outcomes. Reporting to the Managing Director of Impact (MDI), the ID supervises a portfolio of 3-4 Impact Managers who directly manage approximately 30-40 AmeriCorps members to meet their service goals, and have a rewarding year of service.
Additionally, the Impact Director is the instructional expert for the site. This person works with AmeriCorps members and Impact Managers to identify student learning needs, and provide them with the coaching and tools to drive student academic and social-emotional learning gains. The Impact Director is also responsible for partnering with the Learning and Evaluation Director to develop content for and deliver training sessions, specifically in the areas of English Language Arts (ELA), and math.
Strong management skills and a track-record of successfully managing others to achieve goals is imperative to be successful in this role, and teaching experience is a plus. The ID oversees and fosters opportunities for AmeriCorps member development, ensures strong service impact in each of CYKC’s schools, and coaches Impact Managers to achieve all site, team, and school related goals. Specifically, they will ensure the right conditions and resources are in place for City Year AmeriCorps members to deliver attendance, behavior, and course performance interventions for off-track students. The ID will also partner with the MDI to drive strategy to promote the long-term sustainability of the site, fostering strategic relationships at the school house and community level, and serve on the site’s Impact Leadership Team.
